The Szulc’s put on a Red Hat at home

The Szulc house now has a central file server. I found it to be an ideal solution to have a central place on my home network to store all our mp3’s (from my large CD collection i previously mentioned i was digitising) as well as photos and video.

Now any connected device can access the media on any device.

To do this, i installed Red Hat Fedora Core 3 on an old PC, installed Samba for Windows connection and thats about it. Since the box will not have a monitor or keyboard, I use VNC to configure the server from my laptop.

Works great!
